Source: The Economic Times · 25 Sep 2020Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked absolutely the right question when he asked state governments if a couple of days of lockdown every now and then were really effective in combating the Covid-19 pandemic. Many states are still continuing with frequent lockdowns of entire localities, to contain and suppress outbreaks of the disease. This is not more effective in combating the pandemic than enforcing the lockdown in micro-containment zones. Further, such lockdowns of localities impede economic recovery, which could prove as fatal in a country like India as the pandemic itself.
