1. Cabinet approves signing and ratification of the Bilateral Investment Treaty between India and Belarus on investments
The Treaty is likely to increase investment flows between the two countries. The agreement is expected to improve the confidence of the investors resulting in an increase in FDI and Overseas Director Investment (ODI) opportunities and this will have a positive impact on employment generation.
The signing and ratification of a BIT between the two countries will work as a strategic initiative as Belarus is the member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). India has already initiated the BIT text with the Kyrgyz Republic and is in talks with the Russian Federation for a new BIT, based on the Model BIT text.

2. Cabinet approves umbrella scheme of Modernisation of Police Forces
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has given its approval for implementation of umbrella scheme of "Modernisation of Police Forces (MPF)" for years 2017-18 to 2019-20.

3. Cabinet approves bilateral MoU between India and Afghanistan on Technical Cooperation on Police Training and Development
The MoU will help in capacity building of Afghanistan National Police and improving the security apparatus in the region. It has been approved for a period of 5 years from the date of signing the MoU and shall be extended for a further period of 5 years on the condition that are not further changes and or revision.

4. Defence Acquisition Council Meeting
The DAC accorded Acceptance of Necessity to the Indian Navy for procurement of upgraded Sonars for its destroyers and frigates through the BUY INDIAN (IDDM) route at a cost of Rs. 200 crore. These Sonars are designed, developed and manufactured indigenously by the DRDO and the Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory, Kochi and will provide a significant boost to the Navy’s anti submarine warfare capabilities. The DAC additionally cleared procurement of missiles for replenishing the naval inventory.

5. Cabinet approves Agreement on “Cooperation in the field of Information, Communication and Media” between India and Ethiopia

6. CARA launches monthly “Jan Sampark” Program to facilitate adoption
The Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) of the Ministry of Women & Child Development has started a monthly “Jan Sampark” program to enable the public to have interaction with its officials and staff for seeking information related to Adoption as well as flagging their concerns.

7. Vice President unveils Plaque for 'Sujalam Sufalam Yojana' (Water and Irrigation Projects) in Mehsana, Gujarat
The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that linkage of rivers will help the farmers of our country to grow more crops and raise their earnings and contribute in the progress of the country as a result of increased irrigation facilities.
The Vice President expressed his happiness that Gujarat Government has given concrete shape to the concept of river linkage and has linked Narmada and Sabarmati rivers, so that more and more farmers are benefitted.
