Six days after the horrific incident of mass assault and molestation at Delhi’s Gargi College during the latter’s annual festival, Delhi police have finally acted. They arrested 10 people who were caught on CCTV cameras forcibly entering the campus. Over 30 men, many of them in inebriated condition, had forcibly entered the college and molested its students en masse last week. They were seen scaling the walls of the campus and CCTV footage also shows them using a car to force open a college gate. That such an incident of mass sexual assault can take place at a premier women’s college right in the heart of Delhi speaks volumes about the national capital’s deteriorating law and order situation.
