The editorial
Source: The Economic Times · 17 Jul 2018Most boards of companies have a god who can’t be wrong. But what if he or she is wrong? That is the prime question former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry asked — perhaps in a manner that was inappropriate and to the wrong forum. In the Indian legal system, there is no place for redressal if, while following the letter of the law, its spirit is ignored. This applies most to issues related to corporate governance, and even a powerful minority shareholder like Mistry is unlikely to get redressal.
So, it is hardly surprising that his plea has been dismissed and appeals are unlikely to succeed.
