1. Revisit Indian roots, culture and ethos: Vice PresidentShri M. Venkaiah Naidu has released a documentary film ‘Kumbh’ based on Kumbh Mela produced by India Inspires Foundation in association with the Indus University.
The Vice President said that culture and religion were not the same. “When we talk of culture, we are not talking of religion. Culture is a way of living while religion is a way of worship”, he added.
2. PM Narendra Modi to receive Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Gujarat, for 12th annual bilateral summit meeting at Gandhinagar
This will be the fourth Annual Summit between Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Abe. The two leaders will review the progress under the framework of their 'Special Strategic and Global Partnership' and will set its future direction.
The two leaders will attend a public function to mark the commencement of work of India’s first high-speed rail project between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, on 14th of September. Japan is a pioneer in high-speed rail networks, and its Shinkansen bullet train is among the fastest in the world.
3. PM addresses Students' Convention on the occasion of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Centenary Celebrations, and 125th Year of Swami Vivekananda's Chicago Address
The Prime Minister said that 125 years ago, on the same day that has recently come to be known as 9/11, with just a few words, a youngster from India won over the world and showed the world the power of oneness. The 9/11 of 1893 was about love, harmony and brotherhood, he added.
The Prime Minister said that Swami Vivekananda raised his voice against the social evils that have entered our society. He recalled that Swami Vivekananda said that only rituals will not connect an individual to divinity; he said that 'Jan Seva’ is ‘Prabhu Seva.'
4. Airports Authority of India undertakes construction of Integrated Cargo Terminal at Imphal airport
The Government of Manipur had planned to establish an Export Import Cargo Terminal (EICT) at Tulihal, Imphal Airport under ASIDE Scheme of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
The proposed Integrated Cargo Terminal is expected to give a boost to the export of handicrafts items and perishable cargo. This will also help generate employment opportunities in the North Eastern region of the country. In addition to this, the EICT will help establish better connectivity with South & Southeast Asia and give a boost to trade between India and the ASEAN countries.
5. Second State Start Up Conference in New Delhi Tomorrow
The discussions for 2nd Start up Conference shall be conducted around four key themes related to key components of the startup ecosystem, namely:-
o Governance reforms to be undertaken by States for Startups.
o Incubation facilities in India and role of State Governments in developing these facilities.
o Role of State Governments in setting up funds for Startups.
o Making regulations easier for Startups.
6. Environment Minister inaugurates training workshop on capacity building of Indian Zoo Veterinarians on Animal Health Management in Captivity
The Training Programme is being organised by the Central Zoo Authority in collaboration with the Smithsonian National Zoological Park (SNZP), Washington D.C., U.S.A. at the National Zoological Park, New Delhi from September 11-19, 2017.
The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) is a statutory body created under the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. It came into existence in 1992 to oversee the functioning of zoos and provide them technical and other assistance. Zoos in India are regulated under the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and are guided by the National Zoo Policy, 1998. The Government of India has formulated Recognition of Zoo Rules, 2009 to lay down standards and norms for management of zoos in the country. At present there are 166 recognized zoos in the country.
Smithsonian National Zoological Park (SNZP), Washington DC
The Smithsonian National Zoological Park (SNZP), Washington DC is a part of the Smithsonian Institution, mandated by the Congress of the United States of America. It is home to approximately 2,000 individual animals of nearly 400 different species. SNZP is also a research, conservation and education centre for endangered species, with a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital and extensive research facilities.
7. Direct Tax Collections up-to August, 2017 in the current Financial Year 2017-18 show Growth of 17.5%
The Direct Tax collections up to August, 2017 in the current Financial Year 2017-18 continue to register a steady growth. Direct Tax collections, net of refunds, stands at Rs. 2.24 lakh crore which is 17.5% higher than the net collections for the corresponding period of the last year. This collection is 22.9% of the total Budget Estimates of Direct Taxes for the Financial Year 2017-18.
8. Shri Ashwini Choubey inaugurates the 7th International Conference on Cost Effective Use of Technology in eHealth Care
While alluding to the ancient healthcare system of India and the contribution of Sushruta, Charak and Dhanwantari, the Minister said that we must keep pace with the advances in Science and Technology so that the healthcare delivery becomes cost effective, accessible, affordable and more transparent.
At the event, Shri Choubey also felicitated the doctors, particularly the specialists who have successfully treated patients by e-application without actually visiting them in remote and far-flung areas.
9. India and Belarus discuss issues pertaining to collaboration in Vocational education and Skill Development
The Minister of Belarus highlighted the expertise of his country in the field of vocational training, with special reference to the manufacturing sector.
He also highlighted the training institutes which have been developed to impart training for maintenance and repair of Electronic Vehicles (EVs).
Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship highlighted the aspect of creating an Eco-system of trainers for which 50 existing institutes in India are being upgraded.
