Rbi board clears record surplus transfer of rs 2 69 lakh crore to centre for 2024 25
In a major boost for government finances, the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) board on Friday approved a bumper surplus transfer, or dividend, of Rs 2.69 lakh crore to the Central Government for the accounting year 2024-25.The transferable surplus for 2024-25 has been arrived at on the basis of the revised Economic Capital Framework (ECF) as approved by the Central Board in its meeting held on May 15, 2025, the RBI said. The risk provisioning under the Contingent Risk Buffer (CRB) has been expanded within a range of 4.5 per cent to 7.5 per cent of the RBI’s balance sheet.
