1. PM congratulates ISRO team for the successful launch of its 100th satelliteThe Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated ISRO team for the successful launch of its 100th satellite.
“My heartiest congratulations to ISRO and its scientists on the successful launch of PSLV today. This success in the New Year will bring benefits of the country's rapid strides in space technology to our citizens, farmers, fishermen etc.
The launch of the 100th satellite by ISRO signifies both its glorious achievements, and also the bright future of India's space programme.
Benefits of India's success are available to our partners! Out of the 31 Satellites, 28 belonging to 6 other countries are carried by today's launch”, the Prime Minister said.
2. Saksham-2018
Saksham (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav) is an annual flagship event of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. of India , with active involvement of the Oil & Gas PSUs along with other stakeholders like State Governments, for creating focused attention on fuel conservation through people centric activities and to sensitize the masses about the conservation and efficient use of petroleum products leading to better health and environment.
During this year’s month long ‘Saksham-2018’, various interactive programs and activities are planned with the campaign on fuel conservation, getting a kick-start in a mega inaugural function to be held at Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi on 16thJanuary,2018.
The month long campaign aims to intensify efforts for making citizens aware about the conservation and effective utilization of petroleum products. For this, PCRA will carry out various people centric activities such as Training Programs for Drivers / Fleet Operators, Fuel Efficient Driving Competitions, Group Talk with Ladies / Cooks / Maids / School / College Girls on fuel saving & benefits of LPG / PNG over biomass, Educational Programs for Schools / Colleges / Universities, Awareness Programs for Farmers, Walkathons, Concerts, Exhibitions, etc. Beside this, PCRA has also planned to observe Cycle Day on 21st January throughout the country & Cyclothon event at Indore, Bhubaneswar, Mumbai etc. to spearhead the message of fuel conservation, reduction of vehicular emission by reducing congestion and improving traffic flow.
3. 69TH Republic Day Parade: Flypast and Air Display
The Nation will be proudly celebrating its 69TH Republic Day on 26TH Jan 2018. A scintillating flypast and air display by various aircraft will be the hallmark of the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath. Rehearsals for the Flypast and Air display will commence from 18th Jan 2018 (Thursday). The general area over which aircraft will be flying at low levels are Charkhi Dadri-Jhajjar-Yamuna River.
4. ‘Short Film’ making competition on ‘SAUBHAGYA‘ Scheme
Pradhan Mantri Har Ghar Sahaj Bijli Yojana (SAUBHAGYA) has been launched by Government of India with the objective of achieving universal household electrification by providing last mile connectivity to all household in rural and urban areas by March 2019.
Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), a Navratna Company functioning under the purview of the Ministry of Power, is organizing a 'Short Film' making contest to create awareness about the SAUBHAGYA scheme and to involve general public as ambassadors of the programme. The Submission of Entries starts from 10thJanuary, 2018 and the Last Date for submission is 31st January, 2018.
