1. Introduction of India’s First Ever Broad Gauge Air-conditioned AC EMU (Suburban Train) of 12-car rake fitted with Indigenous 3-phase Propulsion system On Mumbai Suburban Section of W. Railway on 25th December 2017First Electric EMU train on Western Railway line was started on 5th January, 1928 between Colaba to Borivali. BB&CI built the first Carshed at Bombay Central on 5th January,1928 for maintenance of EMU rake. Another shed at Kandivali was established in the year 1984-85. With the increase in rake holding over the years a new shed was commissioned at Virar in April, 2013 to undertake maintenance of new technology EMU rakes. Over the last 90 years, the suburban rail service has grown rapidly. Today Western Railway runs 1355 suburban services carrying about 35 lakhs passengers per day with 89 Rakes. Initial rakes were of 4 coach configuration, which were later upgraded to 9 Car Rake in 1958. 12 Car Rakes were introduced in 1990.
Today all the Rakes have been converted to 12 Car Rakes. First 15 Car Rake, which is longest suburban train, was introduced by Western Railway on 21.11.2009.As of now 54 services of 15 car are being run. By continuing the above saga, the First ever “Broad Gauge Air-conditioned AC EMU of 12-car rake fitted with Indigenous 3-phase Propulsion system of M/s. BHEL” on Indian Railway has been received in May-2017 on Western Railway for fulfilling the long standing demand of Mumbai suburban commuters.EMU Rolling Stock organisation of BCT Division has completed all the Static and Dynamic trials of the rake in co-ordination with RDSO on priority.
2. PM remembers Guru Gobind Singh Ji on his 350th Prakash Parv
PM said, "As we mark the 350th Prakash Parv, I bow to the venerable Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. He was an embodiment of exceptional courage and immense wisdom. His brave deeds and noble thoughts inspire people across generations.
Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji believed in the power of equality. He opposed all forms of social discrimination and was revered for his sense of justice as well as honesty."
3. Work, Knowledge and Devotion yield extraordinary results: Vice President
The Vice President said that Yoga embodies a holistic approach to well being and has physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions. He further said that the word Yoga is derived from two roots - One signifying “connection” and the second signifying “concentration”. It connects physical health with mental equilibrium and emotional tranquility and it promotes concentration and focused attention, he added.
The Vice President said that proponents of yogic science have gone deeper into the interconnectedness in human life an emphasized the importance of ‘concentration’ and being able to think, reflect and meditate quietly on the events happening around us. In those quiet moments, they visualized that all of us can make sound ethical decisions, he added.
The Vice President said that this world view has ethics as the underlying bedrock of a harmonious, sustainable lifestyle. The components of this yogic philosophy form the ethical principles that are so universal: Non-Violence, truthfullness, non-stealing, fidelity toone’s partner and not being avaricious, he added
The Vice President said that Yogic Philosophy advocates purity of mind, speech and body, contentment, acceptance of others, perseverance, self study, self reflection, contemplation of the Supreme Being. He further said that among its other facets are the posture, breathing exercises, abstraction, concentration, meditation and liberation. Clearly these aspects of the yogic philosophy cover both the physical as well as the metaphysical and the spiritual and the vision is so uniquely comprehensive and eminently practical, he added.
4. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin calls on Prime Minister
Prime Minister welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin to India on his third visit this year. He noted with satisfaction the marked increase in high-level exchanges this year and warmly recalled his own visit to St. Petersburg in June for the Annual Bilateral Summit.
Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Rogozin discussed the steady expansion and diversification of bilateral ties, particularly noting the standout collaboration in the energy sector and the common pursuit of high- technology cooperation.
