1. PM congratulates Indian Women's hockey team on winning Asia Cup 2017The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has congratulated the Indian Women's hockey team on winning Asia Cup 2017.
"Congratulations to our hockey team on winning the Women's Asia Cup 2017. India is delighted by their stellar performance.",the Prime Minister said.
2. Inauguration of Three-Day International Conference – ‘FIPSPHYSIOCON 2017’
"FIPSPHYSIOCON 2017”, Conference on Human Physiology - VII Congress of Federation of Indian Physiological Societies (FIPS) along with XXIX Annual Conference of the Physiological Society of India (PSI) organised by Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Science (DIPAS) of DRDO was inaugurated at Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI), University of Delhi today. The objective of the conference is to update the scientific community about most recent advances in human Physiology in extreme environments, Neuroscience, Yoga, Sport Physiology and translational research.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman DRDO and Secretary, Department of Defence Research & Development Dr S Christopher emphasised on the importance of quality research and its application for tangible products and solutions to major problems. He highlighted the importance of Yoga and other approaches to improve human capabilities in difficult environmental conditions and terrains. In this context he urged the entire scientific community to utilise the facilities like highest altitude research station created by DRDO at Changla (17,660 ft), Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir.
Director DIPAS and Convener of the conference Dr. Bhuvnesh Kumar in his welcome address deliberated the importance of the theme “Integrating Physiological and Biomedical Science Approaches to Improve Performance, Health and Safety” and various topics of the conference in orations, key note addresses, plenary sessions, 16 sessions, 118 lectures and 140 posters by the 300 delegates from India, USA, UK, Kyrgyz Republic and Malaysia.
3. National Mission for Clean Ganga Organises Ek Shaam Ganga Ke Naam
River Ganga has been an unceasing source of livelihood for more than 40 percent of India’s population. It has been unconditionally providing for our needs and has been the very essence of spirituality. In order to acknowledge the river’s importance and celebrate its magnificence, National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) organised a cultural evening – “Ek Shaam Ganga ke Naam” yesterday in New Delhi. On this date in 2008, Ganga was declared as the National River of India.
Intended to evoke Ganga consciousness, the event was attended by hundreds of people from all walks of life including bureaucrats, academicians, researchers, artists, students, teachers, water and river experts, engineers, media, and other stakeholders. The purpose of the evening was to bring all stakeholders together for a wonderful cause of Ganga rejuvenation and forge ahead in unison. Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Shri Amarjit Singh also graced the occasion.
4. Egypt Offers its Excellece Centers for Training Indian Sports Teams
Col Rathore congratulated Mr Aziz for Egypt qualifying for football World Cup in Russia 2018. Mr Aziz on his part praised successful holding of FIFA U17 by India and expressed keen interest in Mission 11 Million (MXIM), football outreach program.
Recalling, recent dynamism in the ties between the two countries, Col Rathore said that the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and President Sisi of Egypt have met four times and have taken the relationship to a new level. Mr Aziz praised Indian leadership for taking long term decisions in quick and decisive way. Col Rathore briefed him about the various initiatives by the Prime Minister on Financial inclusion, skilling the youth and the schemes like Start up India, Mudra and Make in India. “As two oldest civilizations, we need to forcefully implement the vision of our leaders for our youth. India is a nation of youngsters and we need to provide them an environment to realize their dreams”, said Col Rathore.
