1. Interlinking and protection of rivers is a sacred duty of everyone: Vice President

Vice President laid foundation stone for six national highway projects and dedicated seven national highway projects, costing Rs. 4153 crore in Andhra Pradesh. He also laid foundation stone for development of an Inland Water Way in the Krishna River between Muktyala and Vijayawada in the Andhra Pradesh capital region of Amaravati.
The Vice President said that the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme which linked Krishna and Godavari rivers saved Krishna delta from a drought-like situation arising from water scarcity in river Krishna. He further said that more and more interlinking of rivers will be beneficial for farmers who feed the nation. Everyone should take active part in this noble cause, he added.

2. Meeting with stakeholders to discuss the issues related to use of antibiotics in aquaculture for achieving Rupees one lakh crore shrimp export by 2022

The problem of use of antibiotics in Indian aquaculture particularly in shrimp farms and hatcheries in the wake of detection of antibiotics such as nitrofuran and chloramphenicol in shrimp exported from India after increased frequency of inspection by EU from 10% to 50% w.e.f. October, 2016.
India exported a total of 11,34,948 MT seafood valued at all time high US$ 5.78 billion (Rs. 37,870.90 crore) in 2016-17 as against 9,45,892 MT valued at US$ 4.69 billion in the previous year. Frozen shrimp maintained its position as the top contributor with 38.28 % share in quantity and 64.50 % of the total earnings in terms of US$ from seafood exports.

3. One million children saved, says a new study published in the Lancet . Significant reductions in mortality from pneumonia, diarrhoea, neonatal infections and birth asphyxia

India has avoided about 1 million (10 lakh) deaths of children under age five since 2005, owing to the significant reductions in mortality from pneumonia, diarrhoea, neonatal infections and birth asphyxia/trauma, measles and tetanus, according to study published in the latest issue of The Lancet.The ‘India’s Million Death Study’, implemented by the Registrar General of India,is the first study to directly quantify changes in cause-specific child deaths in India, nationally and sub-nationally, from 2000-15 among randomly selected homes.

4. Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 to be Held in Hyderabad, November 28-30

The Summit will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Advisor to the President, Ivanka Trump, who leads the U.S. delegation.
