2. 2nd India-Indonesia Biennial Trade Ministers’ Forum Meeting agrees to early meeting of Working Groups on Trade & Investment and Trade Facilitation & Remedies
The Commerce Minister of India raised the issue of market access and regulatory barriers concerning Pharma, Health, Dairy Products and Bovine Meat. The Indonesian side agreed to conduct inspection visits for registering Dairy Products, Fresh Food of Plant Origin and Meat Processing facilities.
The issue of market access to automotive and auto components manufactured in India was raised, along with the greater investment opportunities for joint ventures, textile machinery manufacturing, textile parks and Special Economic Zones.
3. India and Republic of Korea review progress of CEPA during visit of Commerce and Industry Minister, Shri Suresh Prabhu to Seoul
Shri Suresh Prabhu visited the Republic of Korea from September 21-23, to participate in the 7th Asia-Europe (ASEM) Economic Ministers meeting and the 3rd Joint Ministerial Review of the India-Korea Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
This was the second overseas visit of the Minister after he assumed his current Ministerial charge.
4. An 18 year old from Srinagar becomes an ambassador for Swachhata Hi Seva
Bilal Dar, a young boy from Srinagar has become the brand ambassador for Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Dar has been contributing to the ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ since the age of 12. He found a mention in the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s recent Mann Ki Baat
5. Government to Launch Mudra Promotion camPaigns on Pan India Basis; Union Ministers to Participate in the Events being Organised on this Occasion.
Total 50 such Mudra Promotion Campaigns will be organised in different parts of the country where the Union Ministers will be participating among others.
6. Shri Rajnath Singh to launch PENCIL Portal at the National Conference on Child Labour tomorrow .National Conference on Child Labour being organized by Ministry of Labour & Employment
The census 2011 showed a substantial decline in child labour as compared to the data of Census 2001, but a lot is required to be done to protect their childhood. Realizing the multifaceted nature of this problem, Government has embarked on a holistic and multi-pronged approach to eliminate child labour from the country in a phased manner. Government has enacted the Child Labour (Prohibition & Regulation) Amendment Act, 2016 which came into force with effect from 1st September, 2016
With this amendment, employment of a child below 14 years is completely prohibited in any occupation or processes. This is a historic progression since the inception of the Act in 1986, when a complete ban in engaging children below 14 years is foreseen as a reality by this amendment. : First time the age of child is linked with the age of the child in the Right of Children to free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. Also, for the first time the definition of adolescent has been introduced and the ambit of the Act is enhanced to include adolescent in the age group of 14-18 years. The amendment prohibits the employment of adolescent in hazardous occupations and processes.
7. PM launches Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana “Saubhagya”
Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana –“Saubhagya”
to ensure electrification of all willing households in the country in rural as well as urban areas.
The total outlay of the project is Rs. 16, 320 crore while the Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) is Rs. 12,320 crore.
