1. Media should avoid sensationalism and maintain its credibility while disseminating news: Vice President
The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that the media has to avoid sensationalism and maintain its credibility while disseminating news. He was addressing the gathering after presenting the 14thShailikaar Prabhakar Samman Award to eminent journalist Smt. Anuradha Prasad, here today. The award was instituted in memory of well-known Hindi writer, journalist and freedom fighter, Pt. Kanhaiya Lal Misra ‘Prabhakar’.

2. PM to lay the Foundation Stone on 3rd October for AIIMS Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh
AIIMS Bilaspur will provide the much needed tertiary medical services to a vast population of not only Himachal Pradesh but the other northern states too. AIIMS Bilaspur, with its multiple disciplines, will herald the hilly state towards comprehensive development and growth

3. Centre to launch Neighborhood Action Plan in cities for better Solid Waste Management
Stressing that the country can’t be made clean without fixing the garbage problem in Delhi that has reached crisis proportion..
Noting that people have a better connect with immediate neighborhood, the Minister unveiled ‘My Home-My Neighborhood’ (Ghar Bi Saaf-Pados Bhi Saaf) campaign with the following six components:

1.Segregation of waste at source
2. Compost making from wet waste within the premises/neighborhood/area
3. Recycling of dry waste
4.Freeing the neighborhood from open defecation and open urination
5. Motivating the residents of neighborhood against throwing garbage in open spaces; and
6.Adopting a near by park or open place for collection and waste segregation.

4. Dr Jitendra Singh interacts with students from Jammu & Kashmir
Arrangements were made for the students, most of whom were visiting Delhi for the first time, to visit the museum of Rashtrapati Bhavan which was a rare and unique experience for them at this tender age. In addition, they went for sightseeing to historic destinations like Red Fort and Qutub Minar.
Dr Jitendra Singh suggested that a visit could also be arranged for them during the Parliament session so that they can witness the proceedings.

5. Government celebrates ‘Bharat ke Kaushalzaade’ on the eve of Antyodaya Diwas
Rural Skills Division, Ministry of Rural Development has organized ‘Bharat ke Kaushalzaade’, an event honouring beneficiaries of its key skilling programmes, on the eve of Antyodaya Diwas 2017.
The event was significant as it was on this day 3 years ago that the Ministry of Rural Development announced DDU-GKY with a focus on building capacity of rural youth to address the needs of domestic and global skills requirements.
