1.Curtain Raiser : Exercise Yudh Abhyas – 2017 

Yudh Abhyas is one of the largest joint running military training and defence corporation endeavours between India and USA. This will be the 13th edition of the joint exercise hosted alternately between the two countries.
Exercise Yudh Abhyas will provide an opportunity to the armed forces of both countries to train in an integrated manner at Battalion level with joint planning at Brigade level.
Both armies will jointly train, plan and execute a series of well-developed operations for neutralisation of threats of varied nature.
2. Smt Anupriya Patel inaugurates 10th Medical Technology Conference 

Health Ministry at the forefront of incorporating digital technology towards achieving the goals elucidated in National Health Policy (2017) which are synchronous with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Additional tenets that are being brought online for ease of implementation, progressively decreasing costs and most importantly, increased accountability and transparency are :
1) registration of vital health statistics like births and deaths,
2) monitoring of Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) through Geographical Positioning Systems(GPS) and
3) preventing female foeticide through implementation of The Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition Of Sex Selection) Act 2003 Act.
Medical technology industry is expected to grow from 4.5 Billion US Dollars currently to 14 Billion US Dollars in 2022.
3 . Shri Kiren Rijiju attends the first National Canine Seminar organised by NSG 

The Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju attended the first National Canine Seminar organized by National Security Guard (NSG), in NSG Campus, Manesar (Gurugram), Haryana today. The NSG, popularly known as "The Black Cats" of the country is organizing this two-day seminar. 
The theme of the two days National Canine Seminar is ''Canine as Tactical Weapon in Fight against Terrorism'' with an objective to discuss and deliberate on the techniques of dog training and strategies of deploying the dogs in Counter Terrorism/Counter Insurgency scenario.
4. International Literacy Day – 2017 
  The 51st International Literacy Day is being celebrated on 8th September, 2017 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi and the theme announced by UNESCO is `Literacy in a digital world’.
  On this day, in the year 1965 the World Congress of Ministers of Education met in Tehran for the first time to discuss the programme of education at the international level.  The UNESCO in its 14th Session in November, 1966, declared 8th September as the International Literacy Day.  
From 1996 onwards some new elements were introduced to make the programme more attractive. In the year 1996 a ‘Mashal March’ was organized involving school students and literacy functionaries.
5. “New India- We Resolve to Make” exhibition cum cultural event in Mumbai 

Under “New India” vision, the Government led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been working with commitment to welfare and empowerment of that poor section of the society which remained the below poverty line even after seven decades of Independence.
  Shri Naqvi said that Centre is making every effort to take everyone in “Sankalp se Sidhi” campaign to make India free from corruption, poverty, filth, communalism, terrorism and casteism. We have taken a pledge to make a “New India” by 2022. 
The focus of the exhibitions will be on India’s freedom movement “The First War of Independence, 1857”, “The Champaran Satyagrah”, “The Non-cooperation Movement”, “The Dandi Yatra” and “The Quit India Movement”. 
  6. The Railway Minister directed to undertake immediate measures to address the problem of Unmanned Level Crossings & Derailments 

Two major causes leading to accidents were identified as :
  a)      Unmanned Level Crossings
b)      Derailments due to defects in tracks
Minister of Railways gave following directions to the Railway Board to ensure Safety in train operations:
  1)      All unmanned level crossings should be eliminated in a year’s time from now.
2)      Track Replacement/renewal should be accorded Priority
3)      The manufacturing of conventional ICF design coaches should be stopped forthwith & new design LHB coaches only should be manufactured.
4)      Anti-Fog LED lights should be installed in Locomotives
  7. National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign being organized on 19-20 September, 2017, at New Delhi.

The discussion focused at making available new, improved & certified seeds to the farmers in the states. The issue of bio-pesticides made of cow dung & cow urine also prominently appeared during the discussion. 
It was decided to develop a hand held device so that the benefits of soil health card can flow to maximum number of farmers.
Both chairpersons agreed for extension in areas of Bee keeping, Agro forestry, use of quality seeds and adoption of new technology for doubling the income of the farmers. 
The recommendations emerging out of this Pre-Rabi Interface would be shared with states in the forthcoming National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign being organized on 19-20 September, 2017, at New Delhi.
