Oneness is essential for society to thrive

Spirituality entails looking inwards to assess our thoughts, shed negativity and work toward imbibing purity and positivity, moment to moment. Self-control, quest for truth, and intuitive wisdom are all embellishments that one gathers during the course of one’s spiritual evolution. Over a period of time, spirituality paves way for a mind that thinks on the lines of inclusiveness and is full of love. These virtues are at the core of all religions. Acceptance of the fact that all religions lead to the common goal puts an end to all differentiation. And one realises within the presence of Ek Omkar – the universal divinity. It is such a liberated mind, reverberating the eternal Pranav mantra, His Naam, that defeats miseries and soaked in the nectar of divine bliss, oozes anand every moment.

The spiritual journey starts with the acceptance that there is one supreme energy, power and beauty, a single reality called ‘Sat’, the Truth, which has no name, but people call it by different names as per their perception. Every other thing, in its essence, is just a different manifestation of the same unifying reality. We are just one of the various variables in the equation of reality.

We humans have two abstract identities – the soul and mind – distinct from our physical entity but related by the divine thread of Ek Omkar. The consciousness of universal oneness of mankind is complete and pure by default, though it may at times be shadowed by our mind that is full of desires and in constant search of outwardly pleasures through senses.

Inward reflection in our mind is essential to minimise attachment to outwardly attractions. This can help in piercing the wall of illusion to reach the Truth. In detachment, your love can be directed to the whole and the whole includes its parts.

Oneness is a deep understanding that we are all interconnected and interdependent. While this is a simple truth, it’s also profound and powerful, because it’s so different from the belief that we are separate and that we need to struggle and compete against each other to survive. We are much better off when we work together to survive. In Oneness, there are no winners or losers. All of us become winners. Once one starts living and acting in this manner, life moves towards its aim and success.

Oneness is not a religion, but it is at the core of every religion. And more than a belief, it’s a scientific fact. Scientifically also, at the subatomic level, we are all connected. The same energy that powers me powers you. Consider the light bulb. It doesn’t matter where that light bulb is made or what it looks like, it is electricity that lights all light bulbs.

The ‘Law of Purpose’ is another important spiritual law, and it tells us that everyone shares exactly the same purpose in life, which is to add the highest value to everyone at all times. When we understand that this is our purpose in life, it is like having the power of the Universe on our side. This is the only way to achieve permanent bliss, joy, and harmony in society.
