The editorial
Source: The Economic Times · 10 Apr 2019The government should remove, forthwith, the irrational ban it has imposed, via its representative, the governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), on the movement of all civilian traffic between Baramulla and Srinagar on two days every week, till May 31. This ban, arbitrary and quite unprecedented in the history of independent India, has caused chaos across the state and thrown life completely out of gear. It serves to further feed disaffection without adding to security. Both the major local political parties, the National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have condemned this ban. Kashmir means the people, not the territory.
