And that’s why the Supreme Court order that allows a 36-year-old Delhi advocate, diagnosed with bipolar disorder, to take charge as a judicial officer is so important. It is a story of wonderful perseverance on the part of Bhavya Nain, whose case progressed through the legal system. It is also a demonstration of enlightened judicial thinking. And it is a reminder how unwelcoming India still is to persons with disabilities, especially mental disabilities.
