India’s minister for external affairs told her Iranian counterpart that India will honour UN sanctions, not unilateral ones imposed by any one country. The time is approaching to walk the talk. The US has put off the so called 2+2 talks between the two countries’ defence and foreign ministers slated for July 6. The US has reportedly told India to stop buying oil from Iran or face sanctions and secondary sanctions. Secondary sanctions knock off access to dollar networks for any bank that deals with an entity that has dealings with a sanctioned Iranian entity. This would be crippling for any bank.
