Koregaon Bhima case must not become political football between Centre and Maharashtra.

In a sudden twist to the Elgar Parishad-Koregaon Bhima case, the Union home ministry has transferred the probe to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which reports to the Centre. This has not gone down well with the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress that took office around two months ago. The Uddhav Thackeray helmed government has taken a dramatically different view of the case than the erstwhile Devendra Fadnavis government. What the current round of wrangling starkly underlines is the high politicisation of various policing agencies. But what the Elgar Parishad-Koregaon Bhima case deserves is a fair, impartial probe.
