It’s not unnatural for the sheer diversity of India’s people to find reflection in differing perceptions about what should be done in different parts of the country. That such differences were registered in Monday’s conference of the PM with chief ministers on how to emerge from lockdown may be surmised by him mentioning on Tuesday that the easing of lockdown would be tailor-made so that the wheels of economy can run again. So, instead of an identical set of measures in all states at the same time, an incorporation of the principles informing the guidelines formulated by GoI in the measures that different states adopt in their own jurisdictions may well be chosen.
