1. ‘Kiran’ helpline to be launched to address mental health issues amid pandemic Due to the growing prevalence of mental health issues caused by the coronavirus outbreak, the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry announced that it would launch a toll free helpline, Kiran.

2. The Industrial Ministers of BRICS countries attended video meeting on 5G, industrial internet and Artificial Intelligence. The meeting has come ahead of the BRICS foreign ministers meet in September 2020.

The Department has created the portal under the aegis of India International Kashmir Saffron Trading Centre.

7. The CRISIL report says that the average income of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) has doubled during COVID-19 lock down.

8. The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 is to be extended for six more months in the state of Assam. The recent insurgent attacks on security forces is the main reason for AFSPA being extended in the state. Several illegal arms and ammunition have been recovered from many places in the state.

9. On August 26, 2020 the Government of India announced that it is to track the illegal beneficiaries of PM-KISAN scheme. The Ministry of Agriculture is to carry out the process.

10. The Central Government Health Scheme uses existing e-Sanjeevani platform of the Health Ministry to provide tele-consultation services to enable beneficiaries have access to specialist consultations on Medicine, Orthopaedics, Eye and ENT. The beneficiaries of this scheme are government employees and pensioners.
