Kashmiri shawl sellers say not allowed to trade in himachal pradesh being told to go back
Twenty-two Kashmiri shawl sellers have filed a police complaint at Ghumarwin police station in Bilaspur district, alleging they are being barred from selling their goods and pressured to leave Himachal Pradesh.The hawkers first approached the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Ghumarwin, who forwarded their complaint to the local police.
Senior officials have attributed the incident to a business rivalry between the Kashmiri hawkers and local shopkeepers affiliated with the Ghumarwin Beopar Mandal. A police investigation is underway.
Although the hawkers did not name any specific individuals in their complaint, police suspect the alleged perpetrators are local shopkeepers. The hawkers stated they had submitted their credentials at Ghumarwin police station earlier this month before beginning to sell woollen clothes.
