Source: The Hindu · 3 Sep 2026In the first top-level meeting between Iran and India since the beginning of the war on Iran in February, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Kyrgyzstan’s Bishkek and urged him to ensure peace and stability in West Asia and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Mr. Pezeshkian blamed Israel and the U.S. for the conflict and requested Mr. Modi to “use India’s extensive contacts with various parties” and help the dialogue process.
